Eight Arsenal fans, who were arrested in the city of Jinja in Uganda for celebrating the club’s Premier League win against Manchester United, have been released.

Photos flooded the internet as the supporters were seen in the Gunners’ colours, carrying a symbolic trophy, during their arrest on Monday.

Security operatives apprehended the group with claims that they were not holding a procession permit, which is considered a public order offence in Uganda.

It was reported that they have since been freed, as stated by Ugandan police spokesperson, James Mubi.

One of the Arsenal fans, who claimed to be an ambassador of the London club, said via MyJoyOnline:

“We shall have the celebrations in Bugembe Stadium.”

A self-acclaimed Man United supporter added:

“As a Manchester United fan, I condemn the arrest of Arsenal supporters in Uganda's Jinja City for celebrating their win over Manchester United in a decade. @PaulKagame @Arsenal I think you should accord these brave supporters of yours a VIP reception at the Emirates.”

Supercomputer predicts EPL season winner

Sports Brief earlier reported on a supercomputer making a new prediction for the final EPL standings, after Arsenal stunned Man United at the Emirates Stadium.

The 2022/23 Premier League season is already halfway done, with at least 19 rounds of fixtures already played.

The Gunners are currently in a five-point lead at the top of the table, with defending champions Man City in second place.
