Eight Arsenal fans, who were arrested in the city of Jinja in Uganda for celebrating the club’s Premier League win against Manchester United, have been released.

Photos flooded the internet as the supporters were seen in the Gunners’ colours, carrying a symbolic trophy, during their arrest on Monday.

Security operatives apprehended the group with claims that they were not holding a procession permit, which is considered a public order offence in Uganda.

It was reported that they have since been freed, as stated by Ugandan police spokesperson, James Mubi.

One of the Arsenal fans, who claimed to be an ambassador of the London club, said via MyJoyOnline:

“We shall have the celebrations in Bugembe Stadium.”
