Arsenal quickly moved on from missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk to rivals Chelsea in signing Belgian forward Leandro Trossard from Brighton to give the squad depth.

Trossard did not look out of place in his debut against Manchester United, he was involved in the third goal, moving the ball out of midfield to attack, before Zinchenko sent in a cross that was turned in by Eddie Nketiah.

Fabregas was full of praise for the former Brighton man in his cameo against Manchester United and said he is better than what people think he is, as quoted by Metro UK.

‘I think Trossard is a really good player, better than at the moment what people think he is. He showed it at Brighton and he showed it today for a couple of minutes. He’s different to what they’ve got. He plays between the lines, he can score goals, play in different positions up front,' he said.

He also advised Mikel Arteta to have belief in his current squad while they await the return of Gabriel Jesus, and possibly add one more signing after defender Jakob Kiwior from Spezia

‘Well we need to believe in the squad they have… Gabriel Jesus needs to come back at some point soon and if they can keep going with Eddie [Nketiah] scoring goals. Plus the defender that they just bought from Spezia. Maybe [they could get] another signing.’ he added.

Arteta defends Trossard's signing

Sports Brief earlier reported that Mikel Arteta defended the signing of Trossard after fan fears over his age in line with the club's transfer policy as well as his professionalism.

At 28, it contravenes Arsenal's policy of under 25 players and with the manner he left Brighton after issues with Roberto De Zerbi, questions were raised on him.

The Gunners boss had sent players like Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and others out of the team for questionable professionalism.
