Brighton and Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck delighted Arsenal fans on Wednesday, November 9 after refusing to celebrate his goal against the Gunners in the Carabao Cup third round.

Brighton have proven to be no pushover this season, and despite the departure of Graham Potter who has since become the new Chelsea manager, the Seagulls continue to fly high domestically.

On Wednesday, they came against an Arsenal side that was much changed to the typical starting XI that is mounting a surprise Premier League challenge this season.

It was the Gunners who drew first blood as Eddie Nketiah smartly place the all in the back of the net from a Reiss Nelson pass.

Seven minutes later, however, and Brighton were back in the game after a horrible slip by Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, who was making his first-team debut for the club, led to him tripping Welbeck.

Up stepped the striker to slot home, and his reaction after scoring left some fans delighted.

For the Gunners fans, they praised Welbeck for not celebrating emphatically against a team he represented for more than four years.

Interestingly, this was not the case whenever Welbeck faced Manchester United, another one of his former clubs.

In 2021, Welbeck was on target for Brighton against Manchester United and his reaction was far different.

This was the first time Arsenal were conceding a goal in 297 minutes of football in all competitions.
