Their impressive run of results has them topping the standings with 24 points, a point ahead of defending champions Man City.

With Liverpool currently struggling for form and Man United and Chelsea adapting to new managers, many believe the title race is between Arsenal and City, with Tottenham also expected to compete.

Whereas there is a general feeling that the season is fairly new for anyone to predict how the title race could pan out, Cole contends the Gunners are genuine challengers for the crown.

According to the former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder, the Mikel Arteta-tutored side have all it takes to conquer the English top flight this season.

"I’m a believer now. We’ve seen them (Arsenal) trip up themselves so many times over 10 years, you always want to have another look and another look, but the process Mikel Arteta has been talking about for the last 12-18 months is starting to bear fruition," Cole told BT Sport via Metro UK.
"The young players, the ones coming in, are delivering it. It looks like a well-oiled machine. Exciting times for Arsenal fans," the three-time Premier League winner added.

Wenger insists Arsenal are title contenders

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has maintained that the Gunners have what it takes to win the Premier League this season.

According to Wenger, the lack of a dominating team this term could give Arsenal the much-needed edge to lift the title.

The north Londoners are topping the standings with 24 points ahead of second-placed Man City.
