According to the The Athletic, Arsenal’s medical staff established that Elneny has a hamstring strain could keep him on the sidelines for a prolonged period.

Mikel Arteta's midfield woes continue

Arteta is already short of midfield options, with Thomas Partey already nursing a thigh strain.

Sambi Lokonga is apparently out of favour and summer arrival Fabio Vieira is yet to make his debut for the league leaders.

Metro UK reports that Arteta may now opt to address his shortage of midfield options, especially considering Partey’s unending struggles with injuries.

The Gunners were initially expected to add more firepower upfront after the exit of Nicolas Pepe, but could now be forced to reassess their transfer options with a day left before the window shuts.

Saliba shines as Arsenal move to the top of the Premier League table

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal stormed to the top of the Premier League as newly-appointed captain Martin Odegaard struck twice inside 11 minutes in a comprehensive 3-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday.

William Saliba's sweet strike in the second half gave the scoreline a fair reflection of the Gunners' dominance as Mikel Arteta's men continued their perfect start to the season after three games.

Three games into last season, Arsenal were without a single point and off to their worst start in 67 years.
