  • Arsenal are understood to be keeping tabs on the developing situation of Franck Kessie at Barcelona
  • The Spanish giants could lose their summer signing for free as they are yet to officially register him for the new season
  • Mikel Arteta is still looking for midfielders and Youri Tielemans has been the number one priority, but Kessie could be a cheaper alternative

Arsenal might be handed a major boost in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad further.

The club has already reinforced this summer, but speculation is rife that Mikel Arteta still wants new faces.

Arteta's top priority has been to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City. The Belgian is entering the final year of his contract and there have been no reports of an official Arsenal offer at the moment.

But, Arsenal could have a cheaper alternative in Franck Kessie. Kessie could be on his way out of Barcelona as early as this Saturday despite just joining them a couple of weeks ago. ESPN reports that Kessie, together with former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen could leave the club as they are yet to be registered.

Barcelona needs to balance their books by either lowering the salaries of the existing players or allowing other players to leave to be able to register their new players.

Kessie and Christensen can leave for free, given that they arrived as free agents, unlike other summer arrivals. Football London reports that Arsenal's technical director Edu has been interested in Kessie before and could move in to sign him.

Other clubs that are remotely keeping tabs on the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international include Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder could seal a sensational return to the Premier League

Sports Brief had earlier reported that former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian could reportedly make a stunning return to the Premier League this summer.

Willian quit the English top flight last summer after he cut short his spell with Arsenal following a torrid run of form with the Gunners.

The Brazillian went on to seal an emotional return with Corinthians, where he had intended to wind up his football career.
