According to Metro UK, the centre-back repaid Mikel Arteta's faith in him by producing an assured performance in defence as Arsenal kept a clean sheet and a 2-0 comfortable win.

Saliba's impressive display earned him a man-of-the-match honour from Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

Incidentally, Magalhaes was impressed by Saliba's performance, with the defender declaring the Frenchman as "the best."

"For me, he’s the best! He’s very young, very promising and a very good player. I am so happy to play with him, together. He has now started in the Premier League, and he was so good," Magalhaes told the Evening Standard.
"The team did very well. They showed intensity, and everyone stayed together. It’s very difficult to play here, but our keeper was strong," he added.

Saliba signed for Arsenal back in 2019 but was yet to pull on an Arsenal shirt until last Friday.

Sergio Aguero thinks Arsenal can challenge for the title

Sports Brief had earlier reported that former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero had termed Arsenal as one of the favourites to win the English Premier League this season.

The new season will get underway tonight when Arsenal travel to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and Aguero has set the ball rolling with a bold prediction.

Aguero thinks that Mikel Arteta has taken time to build a strong team at Arsenal and thus, should be considered on the same wavelength as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
