Brentford stun Arsenal in pre-season friendly

However, their meeting against Brentford failed to go according to plan as they went down 2-1 in a training ground friendly.

The Sun reports that the clash saw a second-string Gunners side get some valuable minutes under their belts ahead of the new season.

The Bees scored the tie's opener inside nine minutes of action through Bryan Mbeumo, who beat goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Arsenal's summer signing Marquinhos had a chance to restore parity in the 24th minute but was denied by Thomas Strakosha, who was in goal for Brentford.

Eddie Nketiah scored the Gunners' consolation after a beautiful build-up which involved Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Mikel Arteta warns Arsenal fans not to be carried away

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted that the Gunners have a long way to go despite their impressive pre-season campaign.

The Gunners have picked four wins during the period, including a huge 4-0 win over rivals, Chelsea, in Orlando.

Arteta will be hoping to help his side build on their fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season after a spending spree that has seen him acquire five new signings.
