Chelsea makes last-ditch effort to sign Gabriel Jesus

Jesus' agent, Marcelo Pettinati, has now revealed that Chelsea made a last-ditch attempt to steal the striker in the final days that preceded his move to the Emirates.

"Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move," Pettinati told journalist Freddie Paxton.
"They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we'd already chosen our new project," he added.

After sealing an eagerly-anticipated move to Arsenal, Jesus revealed that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta played a central role in his decision to choose the north Londoners.

Jesus and Mikel had previously worked together at City when the Arsenal boss was Pep Guardiola's assistant.
