  • Hector Bellerin was extremely emotional after his final home game with Real Betis in the 2-0 win over Granada
  • The Spaniard is set to return to Arsenal, following the end of his loan spell with the Los Verdiblancos
  • Betis players want Bellerin to remain at the club, and striker Borja Iglesias suggested crowdfunding to keep the fullback

Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias has come up with an unorthodox way to secure the services of right back Hector Bellerin permanently.

Bellerin was in tears after playing his final home game for Real Betis, which was against Granada.

After the game, the Spaniard could not hold back his emotions as he balled out in front of the home fans, with the reality of the end of his loan spell dawning on him.

Real Betis holds a special place in Bellerin’s heart as his father has been a lifelong fan of the Los Verdiblancos.

When his loan spell began, Bellerin admitted he did his father proud with the move.

“Being able to make my father happy with a dream that is his, and fulfilling it for him, makes me very excited,” He said at the time as quoted by Sportbible.

After the Granada game, the right back shared a warm moment with his father, who was clearly proud of his spell with the club.

His spell at Real Betis has been a success, as the club recently won the Copa Del Rey, beating Valencia in the final.

Crowdfunding for Bellerin

The fact that the Spaniard has such a strong bond with Real Betis has led to Iglesias making an audacious plea to the club’s fans.

Through his Twitter account, Iglesias said:

"Hey! Do we open crowdfunding so that @HectorBellerin stays?"

Bellerin’s future at Arsenal

At the moment, Bellerin is expected to return to Arsenal following the end of his loan spell.

But with an influx in the right-back position at the North London club, it is highly unlikely he will continue with the Gunners, despite the fact that he has one year left on his current deal.

Arsenal's Champions League hopes damaged by Newcastle defeat

As reported by Sports Brief, Arsenal suffered a huge setback in their quest to qualify for the Champions League when they went 2-0 to Newcastle United on Monday night. Ben White scored an own goal as Bruno Guimaraes added a second one to condemn Arsenal to a second successive loss.
