Eddie Nketiah has equaled former Nigeria striker Nwankwo Kanu’s Premier League record with Arsenal following his at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Nketiah scored two goals in the first half as the Gunners posted a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened side Leeds United.

The victory ensured Mikel Arteta's side increased their winning run to four matches on the bounce as they look secure qualification to next season’s Champions League.

Nketiah opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 5th minute after he pounced on a goalkeeping howler by Illan Meslier.

The England-born Ghanaian striker doubled the lead for the Gunners five minutes later after he finished off a great move by Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli.

After netting his brace on the afternoon, Nketiah has now become the second ever Arsenal player in history to score twice in the opening 10 minutes of a Premier League match.

Per British sports analytics company, Opta, the only Arsenal player record this feat was legendary Nigeria forward Nwankwo Kanu, who scored against Sunderland in October 2002.

Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu joined for Arsenal from Italian giants Inter Milan in 1999.

In his five-year tenure with the North Londoners, the 45-year-old won five trophies including two Premier League titles.

He later played for West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth during his 13-year stay in England.

With 273 appearances, Kanu remains the fourth most-capped African in the competition’s history behind Wilfried Zaha, Shola Ameobi and Kolo Toure.
