Arsenal Star Lacazette Admits He Didn’t Like Aubemayang

  • Alexandre Lacazette has admitted he had misconceptions about former team-mate Aubameyang before the latter joined the Gunners four years ago
  • The French attacker joined the Gunners six months prior to Aubameyang's arrival, who went on to score 92 goals in 163 matches
  • Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spent four years as team-mates in north London

France international Alexandre Lacazette has disclosed he did not like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang prior to his move to the north London club in 2018.

Lacazette confessed he had a negative conception about the Gabonese forward before his switch from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal due to the latter's use of Instagram.

Aubameyang will become a fan favorite at Arsenal following his consistency in finding the back of the net but following his ascension as captain and contract extension the former Dortmund hitman never discovered his old form.

And after falling out with manager Mikel Arteta over disciplinary breaches, the Gabon international was shipped out to Barcelona where the former African Player of the year has found his goal-scoring boots netting 10 times in 16 matches.

In an interview with Canal Plus, Lacazette, whose current deal with Arsenal runs out at the end of the season, insisted whatever Aubameyang posts on social media, particularly Instagram does not reflect his personality.

"I had some misconceptions about him [Aubameyang] before he arrived, I didn’t like him," the 30-year-old stated as quoted by GOAL.
"To be honest, I am not mates with the Aubameyang you see on Instagram. I am mates with Pierre-Emerick. People don’t know Pierre-Emerick, they know Aubameyang."

Lacazette names four players who can replace Aubameyang as Arsenal captain

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Alexandre Lacazette has named four Arsenal teammates who have the desired credentials to lead the Gunners without a permanent captain.

The north London club is currently without a skipper after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy by Mikel Arteta.

Aubameyang was axed from the role over what was described as "a discipline breach" before he was dropped from the squad altogether.
