Arsenal has provided insight on Thomas Partey's injury status after the Ghana international aggravated his right thigh.

According to the club's official website, Thomas experienced muscle damage to his right thigh after a scan was run on the deputy Black Stars skipper.

The club further reports that the 28-year-old will continue to receive assessments in the coming weeks.

Aside from the continuous assessment of the injury, Partey will receive specialist consultations as the club works around the clock to get the former Atletico Madrid man back to full fitness.

Despite the plans put in motion to ensure Partey returns to full fitness, the club did not disclose the number of weeks the Ghanaian will be out of action.

Prior to the injury, Partey was Arsenal's best player driving the club in their chase for Champions League football and his absence could derail their ambitions of securing the fourth spot - which has proven elusive for the Gunners after Arsene Wenger's exit.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal has been dealt with a huge blow in their quest for a Champions League spot after Thomas Partey suffered an injury in their game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.

The Gunners were hammered 3-0 by Patrick Vieira's side who are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions.

Two first-half goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew put the home side in control before Wilfried Zaha's second-half penalty ensured a well-deserved victory for the Eagles.
