  • Thomas Partey has charged his teammates at Arsenal to approach the remainder of the season's matches as if they were finals
  • Arsenal are on a five-game winning run which has boosted their chase for a Champions League spot
  • The Gunners have not played in the elite club competition since 2017 and will be targeting a return to the Champions League next season

Ghana and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has demanded his teammates approach the remainder of the matches with all seriousness.

The Gunners are within touching distance of sealing a spot in the UEFA Champions League despite fierce opposition from Cristiano Ronaldo' Manchester United, Harry Kane's Tottenham Hotspurs, West Ham United and to some extent Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 2006 Champions League finalists are best placed among the aforementioned clubs with three games in hand.

Despite this advantage, Partey believes Arsenal's status as an elite club means a return to Europe's premier club competition will not be out of place.

“We are in a very big club. [Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and the [Champions League] is where they belong. They [Arsenal have to be competing in every competition and that’s the objective of the club but we have to go game by game,” he told Football Daily in an interview.

With less than ten games left to wrap up the 2021-22 season, the deputy Black Stars captain advised his teammates to stay focused in order to attain their target.

“We have some games to finish and we have to approach every game as a final and that’s what we should be focused on.”

Courtesy of Arsenal’s impressive form in the last few weeks, the team is currently fourth on the English Premier League table after beating Daniel Amartey's Leicester City with a crunch game against quadruple-chasing Liverpool.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana international Thomas Partey has drawn the line between the English Premier League and the Spanish top-flight.

The 28-year-old midfielder is enjoying his best spell for the Gunners since he switched Spain for England and is fast becoming a cult hero with his superlative displays.

Thomas' purple patch of form was rehashed with his crowning as the player of the month for Arsenal in the month of February while playing a major role in Arsenal's Champions League pursuit.
