  • Fans are hoping that Arsenal will buy some players during the January transfer window after his meeting with club owners

Mikel Arteta's recent visit to Arsenal's owners in the United States of America has many fans hopeful of a busy end to the January transfer window.

Arsenal are owned by Stanley Kroenke, an American businessman who also owns the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL, Denver Nuggets of the NBA and the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer among other sporting teams.

As confirmed by Transfer News Live on Twitter, the last time this happened, Arsenal spent big money on new players. Fans are hoping that this will be the case again.

According to the Express, Arteta's visit was also to discuss the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal captain has not played a professional game since he was punished by Arteta in December for breaching Arsenal's disciplinary code.

He was expected to represent Gabon at AFCON but contracted Covid19 before the first game.

While many expect the player to leave the club, Arsenal will be hoping to bring in a suitable replacement before the window closes. Arsenal had their sights set on Serbia's Dusan Vlahović but the player looks set to join Juventus.

The failure of the club to land the player also upset fans on social media.

@Havnesjef1:

"Mikel Arteta and Dušan Vlahović have been speaking on the phone this past week. Arteta: Hola my friend, its Mikel. *Vlahovic hangs up the phone*"

Other fans though are divided on whether Mikel Arteta should stay or go.

@GurjitAFC:

"If we fail to bring in anyone by the close of the window, there will be nobody more frustrated than Mikel Arteta."

@GoonerG__:

"Nothing changed, nothing is changing and nothing will change with Mikel Arteta. Even after spending 250m and witouth Europe (embarassing btw). No FA Cup. No Carabao. No Champions League football. #ArtetaOUT, SAVE THIS CLUB."

Ousmane Dembele: Tuchel Speaks on Embattled Barca Winger as Agent Flies to London for Talks

In other Premier Soccer League news, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that he is a huge admirer of Ousmane Dembele, despite the Frenchman’s current woes at Barcelona, Sports Brief reported.

Barcelona are keen on selling the 24-year old winger in the January transfer window as the Spanish club remains adamant that they are not willing to allow him to leave for free in the summer.

Contract talks between Dembele and Barcelona seemingly broke down and the Frenchman’s agent has now flown to London in a bid to secure a move for his client before the January window closes.
