Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a prolific striker before the winter transfer shuts next Monday, January 31.

The move has been occasioned by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's uncertain future at the Emirates, while the deals of Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are set to expire at the end of the season.

The Gunners had initially been linked with a move for Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, but hopes of signing the striker have become increasingly slim.

Football.london now reports the north Londoners are weighing up a possible move for Jovic.

According to Daily Mail, Arteta has been forced to explore other options and a loan move for the Real Madrid striker could be on the table to help him navigate the short-term crisis.

Jovic has had his own struggles at Madrid, with the forward yet to make a league start under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

It is understood the Serbian would be open to depart Santiago Bernabeu this month and Real have reportedly informed Arsenal the 24-year-old could be available.
