The Daily Mail reports the Gunners are confident they are taking major steps forward under Arteta as he builds his team around Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, and sidelines high-earning older stars such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arteta’s current deal with Arsenal will be expiring at the end of the season and the Emirates club are looking at keeping the former Gunners captain by offering him a new and improved contract.

According to a report via The Sun, any extension on Arteta’s contract will see him being handed a pay rise on his £5million-a-year salary in North London.

It has been rumoured Manchester City are prying and seeking to lure the Spaniard back to the Etihad stadium as they believe he is the right man to succeed current manager Pep Guardiola whose contract will be expiring in 2023.

The Gunners however are moving swiftly to prevent that from happening as they believe Arteta is taking the London club in the right direction despite Arsenal having failed to finish above the Top 6 in the league in the past two seasons.

Tension at Old Trafford as Ronaldo Calls for Emergency Talks With New Man Utd Chief Richard Arnold

Earlier Sportsbrief reported Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly demanded showdown talks with new Manchester United Chief Executive Richard Arnold over the Red Devils' performance so far this season.

Sitting on the seventh position currently on the Premier League table, it will be hard for Manchester United to challenge for the topflight title as they will have to fight to finish among the top four.
