'Comparison' Between Romain Folz and Manchester United Coach Benni McCarthy Made by AmaZulu Boss Zungu

Outspoken AmaZulu Football Club president Sandile Zungu once again went against the grain.

Zungu implied that current coach Romain Folz - who led the club to its first cup final in 30 years - was a better coach than former boss Benni McCarthy. The current Manchester United first-team coach guided Usuthu to a second-place finish in the league two seasons ago, the KwaZulu-Natal club's highest finish since the advent of the Premier Soccer League in 1996.

According to The Citizen, Zungu said said to Thabiso Mosia on SAFM last week:

“To be honest, Fohloza is the best coach we’ve ever had. Since he’s been here we’ve come to appreciate how much science there is in football. Everything he does is so detailed. Even though I didn’t know much about him, I’m amazed at what he does.”

Speaking of McCarthy, Zungu added:

“Benni McCarthy remains the people’s darling and everyone doesn’t want him lost to the local scene, including me, I’m a big fan. He did wonders for the team but when we parted ways, I was cautious of our ability to finish in the top eight, let alone top four which is what we had agreed upon.

"When the answer was not forthcoming, I did what I’m good at, which is to make a decision."
