  • Amazulu temporary coach Brandon Truter is conducting himself like a man, not paying attention to any pressure that comes with the position
  • Truter was roped in a month ago to fill in after Benni McCarthy was sacked following a string of poor results
  • In that time, Truter has steadied the ship in Durban as Usuthu looks to finish the season on a strong note while finishing in the Top 8

Amazulu interim coach Brandon Truter is a content man after a good start in Durban.

Since joining Usuthu, the team is unbeaten in three matches, boasting two wins and conceding none in that run. Truter headed down to KwaZulu-Natal after Benni McCarthy was shown the door over a month ago for poor results, which undermined the club's season.

Speaking after a draw with Royal AM, Truter told SowetanLIVE:

“I have nothing to prove to anyone, but stats and facts are there for everybody to see. Now we hardly concede, so it is a work-in-progress third game now still unbeaten. Seven points out of nine, so I think we are fairly okay now. We are happy that this is our third clean sheet in a row and we are also creating chances. That’s what I like about the team."

Truter also inferred that there were elements associated with Amazulu are not happy that he was the one chosen to replace McCarthy. He pointed to his experience and successes in the past as something that should have earned these people's respect.

He added:

“For me, I can’t focus on what I can and at the same time, whatever happens, people can see the quality here,” he said. So, I will continue with what I am capable of and I would like to thank the management and the technical team whose support has been good.”

Amazulu is currently on the hunt for a permanent head coach, and an interesting target is rumoured to be in the club's cross-hairs.

As reported on Sports Brief, Steve Khompela is apparently being lined up to take over at the Durban-based team starting next season.

The current interim coach is Brandon Truter, was appointed a month ago after Benni McCarthy was shown the door.
