Fulham will be without Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi when they travel to face Arsenal in the Premier League, after the 29-year-old failed to recover sufficiently from a hamstring injury picked up during the club’s goalless draw against Brentford two weeks ago.

Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed Iwobi’s continued absence in his pre-match squad update, stating: “Alex (Iwobi) is out still, plus Kevin.” The Nigerian international has not regained full fitness in time for Saturday’s fixture, removing one of Fulham’s key attacking options from the squad.

The injury is particularly notable given the occasion — Iwobi spent a significant portion of his development years at Arsenal before departing in search of regular first-team football. The Emirates Stadium clash would have represented an emotionally charged return to his former club, but the hamstring problem has denied him that opportunity.

Silva also addressed the fitness status of right-back Kenny Tete, whose availability for the match remains uncertain. “Kenny (Tete), we will have to see how he reacts to the last two sessions. He can probably be involved in the game,” the Fulham manager said, indicating that a final decision on Tete would be made closer to kick-off following further fitness assessments.

Iwobi’s absence comes at a demanding stage of the Premier League calendar. With the season entering its final stretch, Fulham’s squad depth will be tested as the club looks to maintain momentum in their push for European qualification. According to reports, Fulham have been managing Iwobi’s workload carefully since the Brentford match, though the midfielder has not been able to return to full training in time.

The Cottagers secured a narrow victory over Aston Villa in a recent league fixture without Iwobi available, demonstrating some capacity to cope with his absence. However, facing an Arsenal side with their own European ambitions represents a considerably steeper challenge, and Fulham will hope the Nigerian can return to action for the remaining fixtures once his recovery is complete.

For Iwobi, the immediate focus will be on rehabilitation. The midfielder joined Fulham after leaving Everton in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as a consistent performer in the west London side’s midfield. His return to full fitness before the end of the season remains the priority for both player and club as Fulham look to secure their best possible finish in 2025-26.
