Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag clinched the Dutch top-flight title in success after his side thumped Heerenveen 5-0 on Wednesday night.

With closest rivals PSV Eindhoven playing out a draw with Feyenoord, Ajax were in pole position to scoop home their fourth successive league title in the Eredivisie with a win over their opponents.

And the four-time European champions did exactly that with goals from Nicolas Tagliafico, Steven Berghuis, Sebastien Haller, Edson Alvarez and Brian Brobbey helping Ajax seal the Dutch championship in grand style with a game to spare.

Ten Hag, who will be exiting the Johan Cruijf Arena at the end of the season, recorded a comprehensive win in his last home game as Ajax boss.

Manchester United name Erik Ten Hag as new manager

English Premier League giants Manchester United has appointed Erik Ten Haag as the club's new manager on a three-year deal with an option to extend for one year.

Ten Hag, currently on the books of defending Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam, will join the Red Devils at the end of the season with his contract running till 2025.

He will be United's fifth permanent head coach since Sir Alex Ferguson left his position as manager in 2013, taking over from Ralf Ragnick who will take a consultancy role after the conclusion of the season.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte poured cold water on the appointment of Eric Ten Hag as the new Manchester United manager by suggesting the Dutchman was not necessarily the solution to the club’s problems.

United on Thursday, April 21 officially announced Ten Hag would take over at the dugout at Old Trafford from next season.

Ten Hag has penned a three-year deal and is set to take over once Ralf Rangnick’s interim tenure comes to an end.
