The 21-year-old attacker who has struggled for game time since his injury return climbed off the bench to set up Ajax's crucial win over the weekend as the Dutch giants seek to retain their title.

In order to be match fit for the remainder of the season first-team players of Ajax are given opportunities to fine-tune their game with the youth side.

And the former FC Nordsjaelland talisman took full opportunity by breaking the game's deadlock after 22 minutes but his strike was quickly cancelled by the visitors a minute after his goal.

It appeared the equalizing goal awoke the beast in Ajax as they embarked on a demolition exercise in the second half to score five unanswered goals in the second stanza to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors.

Kudus will hope his continuous purple patch display for Jong Ajax will convince newly-appointed Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag to hand him more game time as the season draws to a close.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana international Mohammed Kudus climbed off the bench to provide an assist in Ajax Amsterdam's narrow one-nil win over NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Kudus was introduced into the game with five minutes to spare by incoming Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag as he searched for a win.

And his substitution proved to be a masterstroke as Kudus provided the assist for Dutch-born forward of Ghanaian heritage Brian Brobbey three minutes after his introduction.
