  • Mohammed Kudus climbed off the bench to help Ajax Amsterdam record a hard-fought 3-2 win in the Dutch Eredivisie
  • Ajax maintained their stranglehold at the apex of the league table as the Sons of the Gods keep their title defence intact with eight games left
  • Coach Erik Ten Hag has been integrating the Ghanaian midfielder into his squad gradually after his long injury layoff

Ghana international Mohammed Kudus played a bit-part role for Ajax as the Amsterdam-based club recorded a 3-2 win against Cambuur.

Goals from Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller and skipper Dusan Tadic were neutralized by strikes from Sierra Leone international Issa Kallon and Patrick Joosten.

However, Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch had the last laugh as he put a dagger in the heart of the home side as Ajax claimed the maximum three points at stake.

How did Kudus fair in the dramatic win over Cambuur

The former FC Nordsjælland midfielder began the game from the bench but was introduced as a replacement for Davy Klaassen in the 74th minute.

Although he could not get his name on the scoresheet, Kudus' energy from midfield, pressing and drive caused a lot of headache for Cambuur.

His general output might convince coach Ten Hag to hand him more minutes while Black Stars coach Otto Addo will be excited at the progress being made by the left-footed midfielder

Kudus bags hattrick for Ajax

Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored three goals for Jong Ajax as they claimed a 6-3 victory over Ado Den Haag in the Eeste Division on Monday, March 7.

Kudus scored the first goal in the 18th minute before Ricardo Kishna got the equaliser five minutes later. Ajax took the lead again through Danilo and Kudus converted from the spot to score his second on the night in the 41st minute before halftime.

Naci Ünüvar made it four for Ajax but the away side scored two quickfire goals within two minutes to come into the game.

Mohammed Kudus declares himself fit and ready after long injury lay-off

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana and Ajax midfield kingpin Kudus Mohammed has declared himself 'fit and ready' following a long injury lay-off.

The 21-year-old midfielder suffered an injury while on national assignment for Ghana in November 2021 and was named in the 28-man squad for the 2021 AFCON but his late recovery coincided with Ghana's early exit.

Since his return to fitness, Ajax gaffer Erik Ten Hag has slowly integrated the Ghanaian back to first-team action.
