Accra Hearts of Oak coach, Slavko Matic has reportedly applied for the vacant Black Stars job.

The 46-year-old Serbian trainer seems keenly interested in the job, as he is set to quit his role with the Phobians in order to take up the national position.

Matic has been in charge of the league giants since October 2022, following the sacking of Samuel Boadu.

However, according to reports in Ghana, Matic has submitted his application and will be hoping to be shortlisted for the top job.

Meanwhile, the management of Hearts of Oak are yet to receive a notice from the coach over his interest in the Black Stars position.

The Ghana Football Association are still hunting for a new manager, after receiving more than 1000 applications for the role, according to Pulse.

Matic has had a mixed time at Hearts of Oak, having won six games, drawn four and lost two. The team's latest defeat came in the FA Cup, as the cup title holders were eliminated by Dreams FC.

His coaching career has seen him spend time with Napredak Krusevac and OFK Beograd in Serbia, and he was also in charge Qatari outfit Al Ahli.

Appiah applies for Ghana job

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Kwesi Appiah applying for the position as the national team coach of Ghana.

The former Black Stars player will be making his third attempt at the role,, having coached the team twice in the past.

He joins over 60 coaches to have applied for the role, as the GFA continues the hunt for a new senior manager.

Chris Hughton interested in Ghana job

Former manager of Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United, Chris Hughton has reportedly applied for the vacant Black Stars job.

The Irishman, who was part of Ghana's technical team at the World Cup in Qatar, has showed interest in the national head coach position.

According to reports from the country, the experienced manager submitted his application as the Ghanaian FA works on appointing a new gaffer by the month's end.
