  • Albert Commey has made a wild claim of match-fixing, saying that the majority of games played on the Ghana Premier League final
  • The Ghanaian footballer guru claimed that the match between Hearts of Oak and Real Tamale Unite was fixed
  • Match-fixing trended heavily last season after Ashantigold and Inter Allies were demoted after being found guilty of fixing their match

Football administrator Albert Commey has alleged that some games played on the final weekend of the Ghana Premier League were fixed.

Commey, who is the Deputy Chief Executive of Ashanti Gold SC, accused several matches, including the clash between Hearts of Oak and Real Tamale United were fixed.

Hearts of Oak suffered a shocking 4-1 defeat at home to the Tamale-based club to escape relegation on the last day of the season.

Speaking to Space FM in an interview, Mr. Commey claimed that most of the games were conveniently played to ensure some teams escaped relegation.

He also alleged that the match between his own AshantiGold and Bibiani GoldStars, in which Yaw Annor scored two goals to win the golden boot, was fixed.

“The matches between Bibiani Gold Stars and Ashgold was a fixed match, Eleven wonders vs Aduana Stars was a Fixed match, King Faisal vs Legon Cities was a fixed match and lastly HEARTS vs RTU was also a Fixed match,” Albert Commey said, as quoted reported by FootballGhana.
“Normally when it gets to that time, clubs want to survive. FA doesn't know about it. How do you think Hearts of Oak will lose by four goals? Did you watch them yesterday? We shouldn't be hypocrites or we won't progress. I'm a Hearts fan, I'm telling you.”

“Let us not be hypocrites or else we wouldn't move forward in Ghana football.

Ashantigold Demoted to Division Two Over Corruption Scandal

Meanwhile, Ashantigold have been demoted to the second division of Ghanaian football after they were found guilty of match manipulation.

The Miners were punished for manipulating the final day clash between them and Inter Allies last season, where Hashim Musah awkwardly scored two bizarre own goals in the 7-0 defeat to Ashantigold.

The Ghana Football Association released their finding on Monday morning and have punished several players and management members for their role in the game.

How Match Fixing Scandal Poured Cold Water on Promising Ghanaian Player's Trial in Austria

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ashantigold SC attacker Seth Osei will miss a golden opportunity to trial with Austrian side SK Austria Klagenfurt, reports Sports World Ghana.

Osei was billed to travel to Austria this month for his trial which would have lasted for a month following his impressive performance last season.

However, his European dream has hit a snag following yesterday's release from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) which slapped various degrees of sanctions on the culprits involved in the match-fixing scandal which surfaced after Ashgold played Inter Allies in last season's final league game.
