Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored the winning goal as Hearts of Oak defended their MTN FA Cup trophy after defeating Bechem United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians rallied from behind to record a 2-1 victory over the Hunters at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

This victory in the final means that coach Samuel Boadu and his men have successfully defended the title they won last season and their 12th FA Cup title in history.

How Hearts of Oak defeated Bechem United

The Hunters opened the scores of the game on the stroke of half time through Emmanuel Avornyo after a counter break.

Bechem United broke free and Augustine Okrah hit a fierce shot at goal which was parried into the path of striker Emmnauel Avornyo who slotted home.

But few minutes later Hearts of Oak had something better as Samuel Inkoom crossed from the right flank and it was acrobatically sent home by Caleb Amankwah for the equalizer.

In the 60th minute, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh gave the holders the lead after connecting with a nice cross from the left from Gladson Awako to make it 2-1 as the ball looped over the on rushing Bechem United goalkeeper.

Six minutes later, Bechem United star man Augustine Okrah received a red card after an attack on a linesman, forcing the team to finish the match with 10 men.

In the end, Hearts of Oak did well to manage time to secure a 2-1 win in the final to retain the MTN FA Cup title.

Hearts of Oak Player Daniel Afriyie Barnieh Makes Ghana Debut in Japan Heavy Defeat

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Hearts of Oak players Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Dennis Korsah made their debuts for the Black Stars in the Kirin Cup against Japan on Friday morning.

Barnieh started the game from the bench and was introduced in the second half as a replacement for Andy Yiadom.

However, his club teammate, Korsah, was handed a starting role in the absence of Baba Rahman and Gideon Mensah, who were ruled out of the game due to various reasons.
