Hearts of Oak's preparations for the Ghana Premier League clash against Gold Stars FC have been hampered after several members of the squad went down with an illness.

According to GhanaWeb, about fifteen first-team players have been hospitalised after their FA Cup victory over Dreams FC on Sunday.

The Phobians came from behind to defeat the Dawu-based club 3-2 and reach the MTN FA Cup final for the second year in a row.

And now, the Ghana champions will cut their celebration to the final short as several key players have been rushed to various hospitals in Accra over the illness that threatens their league match on Wednesday.

Per GhanaSoccernet, Samuel Boadu's side are likely to ask the Ghana FA to postpone their match against Gold Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium because they are unlikely to raise a team to play the match.

Among the players affected are in-form forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and midfielder Nurudeen Abdul Aziz. Also on admission are Seidu Suraj, Amankwah Baafi and Frederick Ansah Botchway.

However, veteran midfielder Sulley Muntari, for Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom and former TP Mazembe attacking midfielder Gladson Awako have not been hit with the sickness.

Hearts Of Oak Scribe Rubbishes Claims Sulley Muntari Is Egoistic

Sports Brief earlier reported that communications Director of Hearts of Oak Opare Addo has refuted claims veteran midfielder Sulley Muntari is egotistic.

According to multiple reports in the local media, Sulley Muntari has been full of himself since he joined the defending Ghana Premier League champions.

The reports suggest his continuous absence in most away games of the Phobians is a testament to his egoistic nature, which many infer has caused an uproar in the Hearts of Oak dressing room.
