Ghana Premier League's first-ever top scorer Peter Lamptey marked his 75th birthday over the weekend in a grand style.

Known as the 'Goal Thief' during his playing days, Peter was captured in a video earmarking his birthday with dancing.

In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, Peter Lamptey was joined by well-wishers as the former Ghana international celebrated a landmark moment in his life.

Who is Peter Lamptey?

Born on April 6, 1946, Peter Lamptey is regarded as one of the best finishers the country has ever produced.

He played for one-time African champions Accra Hearts of Oak and city rivals Great Olympics during his glittering playing career.

Nicknamed the 'Goal Thief' for his goalscoring abilities, Lamptey S=scored 26 goals in 21 games in the 1973 Ghana Premier League season.

He played for Hearts of Oak alongside Mohammed Polo, Mama Acquah, Robert Hammond and Anas Seidu who were known as "The Fearsome Five" terrorizing opposition defence for fun.

What were his achievements?

Aside from winning the top scorer's award in 1973, Lamptey won five league titles with Hearts of Oak, and three FA Cups while finishing with a runners-up medal in 1977 when Hearts lost to Guinean outfit Hafia Club in the CAF Champions League.

He did not enjoy much success with the Black Stars with his only major feat at the national team level coming in 1972 when he played for Ghana at the Olympic Games.

Mohammed Polo remains the best dribbler out of Ghana and had a successful career with Hearts of Oak and the Black Stars.

In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, several Ghanaian fans showered praises on the ex-Black Stars player with the younger generation, hoping they saw him play.
