  • Ghana legend Sulley Muntari has disclosed how his son played a role in his move to Accra Hearts of Oak
  • The 37-year-old joined the Ghanaian champions in the transfer window after almost two years without a club
  • Sulley Muntari spent most of his career in Europe where he won several titles including the UEFA Champions League

Sulley Muntari has revealed that he decided to return to football because of his son, who has never seen him play, despite his several achievements in the sport.

The 2010 UEFA Champions League winner's son is only six and does not have a lot of memories of his father playing.

However, joining Hearts means Jamal Kruise Muntari, son of the footballer, will see his father playing on the grandest stage.

“Decision to play now is my son but decision to play for Hearts of Oak was easy," said Muntari to the club's media.
"I live here in Accra and before I came down for holidays, I train with Hearts of Oak. I met Dr. Tamakloe, the President himself, Afede and a few of his friends. Some of the players too, I’ve met them.
"It wasn’t a hard decision to make but the push was my son who asked me to start playing because he wants to come to the stadium and watch me play and I said ‘okay’. Since the friendship with Hearts was there long before, it was easy, very easy for me to choose,” Muntari added.

Sulley Muntari is expected to make his Hearts of Oak debut on Sunday when the Phobians face regional rivals Greats Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Agyemang Badu believes Sulley Muntari will succeed at Hearts
