FootballNzoia Sugar's Beloved Bus on Brink of Auction as Club Struggles with Debt
- Nzoia Sugar’s bus will likely face an auction to cater for the club’s debts
- The club has been using public means to travel to away league matches
- Players are being payed by Nzoia Sugar company but the club is still struggling to fund its day to day activities
FKF Premier League side Nzoia Sugar are at risk of losing their beloved team bus to auctioneers over unpaid dues.
The 51-seater capacity bus is on the verge of being auctioned to cover some of the huge debts the club currently faces.
Notably, the club has been forced to seek other means of transport for their away matches as their team bus is currently seized and cannot be released due to the club’s debts.
According to a report from The Star, auditor general Nancy Gathungu suggested Nzoia Sugar’s company’s liabilities significantly outweighed its assets and thus the firm was technically insolvent.
The bus, TUKO.co.ke has learnt, was donated by Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
Nzoia Sugar has since made efforts to raise funds by appealing to well-wishers to chime in to help the company meet some logistical costs.
The club’s problems are not only off the pitch and as far as their squad is concerned, Nzoia Sugar took a major hit in the recent transfer window as a number of players left the club.
The likes of Hillary Simiyu, Gabriel Wandera, Dennis Wanjala, Elvis Ronack, who all played a crucial role in the club’s survival last season, all left to seek greener pastures.
