A man, whom Mafuta says was masquerading as the club chairman, descended on the tactician after a 3-0 home loss to Kariobangi Sharks at Bukhungu stadium.

The man in question, identified as one Hussein Kiharangwa, descended on Mafuta, accusing the coach of poor tactics that led to the team’s crushing defeat.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Mafuta claimed the supposed chairman was on his case right from when the game was ongoing.

“I’m not sure if this guy was the chairman a long time ago or what. But immediately after the game he assaulted me. He kept insulting me throughout the game from the dugout.”
“For now I’m afraid to go to work because my work involves interacting with people in different places. So now I keep asking myself, am I safe?”

According to the coach, this is not the first time he has received threats from the said ‘chairman’.

Having only recently taken charge of Vihiga Bullets, Mafuta is still searching for his first win with the club, who are debutants in the top flight in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after they emerged as runners up in last season’s National Super League (NSL).

Mafuta has since reported the matter to the Kenya National Coaches Association (KENFOCA) but no action has been taken at the time of publication of this article.

Vihiga Bullets CEO Collins Juma also commented on the incident as he distanced the club from the supposed chairman, terming him a ‘hooligan’.

The club is owned by former Vihiga governor Reverend Moses Akaranga.
