Brazil on Thursday night, November 11, became the first South American team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after beating Colombia 1-0 with Lucas Paqueta netting the goal.

But the encounter was not an easy one for Neymar and his teammates as Colombia also wanted a win so as to help their quest of making it to the World Cup in Qatar.

Playing in front of their fans, Brazil started the encounter impressively and were looking for an early goal but were denied two times by goalkeeper David Ospina.

Despite all efforts by the Brazilian players to score in the first half, Colombians were tough and they would have also taken the lead before the end of the 45 minutes.

Both teams came out in the second half firing in all cylinders, but the hosts were the ones who had the breakthrough in the 72nd minute through Lucas Paqueta.

Lucas Paquetáa beat goalkeeper David Ospina nicely as Brazil maintained their unbeaten run in the World Cup qualifiers.

According to the report on Timesofindia and ESPN, Brazil are now leading the 10-team South American group with 34 points from 12 game.

The top four teams qualify automatically for Qatar 2022 and the fifth-placed side goes into an inter-regional playoff.

Lionel Messi and his teammates in the Argentina national team are occupying second position, while Ecuador are on third with Chile staying fourth.
