Cameroon head coach António Conceição da Silva Oliveira has named a strong 28-man provisional squad for next year’s African Cup of Nations, BBC reports.

Cameroon who will serve as host of Africa’s biggest football showpiece will be bidding to win their sixth Nations Cup crown after last winning the competition in 2017.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, Bayern Munich and Ex-PSG forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Napoli’s Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa are some of the big names listed in the provisional team sheet.

Other notable names in the team include Christian Bassogog who plays for Shanghai Shenhua in China, Karl Toko-Ekambi who plays for Lyon, Moumi Ngamaleu from Young Boys in Switzerland, and Clinton Njie from Dinamo Moscow in Russia.

According to New Telegragh, Vincent Aboubakar will once again captain the Indomitable Lions going into the tournament as Head coach António Conceição da Silva knows the task ahead for his Cameroonian side after only naming one new player in Enzo Ebosse, who plays for French Outfit Angers getting his maiden call up to the national side.

Cameroon are in Group A alongside Burkina Faso. Ethiopia and Cape Verde, and will begin their campaign against the Burkinabe on the opening day of the Nations Cup.

The African Cup of Nations will begin on January 9 with the final slated for the 6th of February.

Big names missing in Milovan Rajevac's squad for AFCON 2021

Earlier Sportsbrief reported how Ghana, Milovan Rajevac has left out some big names in his squad for next year's Africa Cup of Nations after releasing his provisional team.

The Serbian tactician announced a 30-man squad for pre-AFCON camping in Qatar but left out number one goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

In the list presented to the media, top players like Caleb Ekuban, Emmanuel Gyasi, Afriyie Acquah, Joseph Aidoo, and Ishmael Ganiyu were all not included.
