Westham re-appoint David Moyes

- Moyes was expected to replace Pelligrini as soon as the Italian was sacked

- He takes over 18 months after he was overlooked for the Westham job

- The Hammers, despite the talent in their squad, are 18th, a point off the dreaded relegation zone

David Moyes has been appointed Westham manager barely days after the sacking of Manuel Pelligrini.

Moyes, who is making a grand return to The Hammers, has signed an 18-month deal with the London club which will see him manage the side until 2021.

The 56-year old’s appointment comes barely 18 months after he was overlooked for the same job in favor of Manuel Pelligrini.

Pelligrini was sacked on Saturday, December 28 following the club’s latest 2-1 defeat at the hands of surprise packages Leicester City.

The loss proved to be the last straw for the Italian who lost four straight home games.

Speaking on the appointment, Moyes expressed optimism in his new-old role and desire to get results sooner than later.

"I'm feeling very proud that I'm back here at West Ham, but more importantly I'll be looking to see what I can do, what I can make improvements to and how we can get some wins with the players," he said.

Moyes' first assignment will be a home game against Bournemouth on Wednesday, January 1.

The game is fairly crucial on both sides as Eddie Howe's men are also struggling for form with only one win in their last nine games.
