  • Ghana suffered a disgraceful elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
  • The West Africans are scheduled to face Argentina in an international friendly
  • Fans of the struggling Black Stars have expressed their displease at the fixture

The Black Stars of Ghana, mirroring their performance in 2022, endured a forgettable Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 tournament.

Despite fielding some of the continent's top forwards, including West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Athletic Club’s Inaki Williams, the West African giants failed to secure a victory in any of their three group-stage matches, despite netting five goals.

This disappointing display at the tournament, which undoubtedly left a bitter taste for fans and stakeholders of Ghanaian football, resulted in the dismissal of head coach, Chris Hughton.

In an effort to move beyond the lingering disappointment of AFCON, the Ghanaian Football Association have arranged a friendly match with the 2022 FIFA World Cup champions, Argentina, slated for the upcoming FIFA international window, as reported by Ghanaian football expert, Gary Al Smith.

The scheduled fixture is anticipated to bring about significant changes to what seems to be an ageing Black Stars team and serve as a strategy to overcome recent challenges faced by the country's football scene.

Nonetheless, the declaration of the match has elicited laughter from a substantial number of Ghanaians, with many emphasising their belief that they are fated for an inevitable embarrassment against Argentina.

@Addison_GF wrote:

"Score line Argentina 🇦🇷 99: 1 Ghana 🇬🇭"

@xeaneverdry stated:

"We go take lashes ooo. Why do we agree? We for schedule match with Dominica."

The friendly fixture between both sides is reportedly set to take place on March 26 in Beijing, China.

Ghana journalist slams Black Stars

Sports Brief also previously reported that a Ghanaian football expert criticised the Black Stars for their disappointing performance in AFCON 2023.

Ghana experienced a last-minute collapse against the Mambas of Mozambique, with Jordan Ayew's early brace cancelled out late in the game.
