The 2023 African Cup of Nations is set to be graced by three of the most complete wingers in the world at the moment.

At least this is according to data compiled by DataMB, which ranked Mohamed Salah and Inaki Williams among the top 10.

Salah has been in impressive form for Liverpool this season and is in the hunt for the Golden Boot with 14 goals, which ties him in first place with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Another player who is the classic example of how consistency can yield results is Athletic Club’s Inaki Williams.

According to Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old, who switched allegiance from Spain to Ghana, has had 11 goal contributions in 18 appearances for his club this season.

This puts Williams in fifth place in DataMB’s rankings of the most complete wingers in the 2023/24 campaign so far.

The list is topped by Bayern Munich ace Leroy Sane, whose form this season deserves more recognition.

Sane has integrated seamlessly with Bayern Munich’s summer signing Harry Kane, and the two have proven to be a devastating duo for Bundesliga opponents.

The German has nine goals and nine assists in all competitions this season, meaning he averages 0.85 goal contributions per game, according to the Bundesliga website.

Who are the top 10 best wingers this season?

Data used to select the ten best wingers took into account several factors that typically make a good winger.

These include dribbles per 90’, crosses per 90’, shots per 90’, goals per 90’ and assists per 90’.

One interesting bit about the list is it includes Jude Bellingham despite the fact that the 20-year-old predominantly plays as a midfielder.

But as per the data, Bellingham’s numbers in terms of the criteria used to determine the best wingers enabled him to fit the bill.

Here are the top 10 most effective wingers:

1. Leroy Sane, Bayern Munich

2. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool

3. Nico Williams, Athletic Bilbao

4. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Napoli

5. Inaki Williams, Athletic Bilbao

6. Bukayo Saka, Arsenal

7. Ousmanne Dembele, PSG

8. Leon Bailey, Aston Villa

9. Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid

10. Bryan Zaragoza, Granada
