The 2019/20 CAF Champions League was a breathtaking win and one of the most iconic moments in African football history.
Pitso Mosimane led Al Ahly to victory against Zamalek at the Borg El Arab Stadium to secure the premier club title.
The coach said that he had needed to go to the Nile river in order to 'catch the big fish', commenting that:
"Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. Thanks, Captain El Khatib , and the board, players, technical team, players, staff, admin, supporters, my Family, South Africa and Almighty God for the trophy."
The team had secured this enviable bag on eight previous occasions, a daunting prospect for Mosimane.
Pitso Mosimane has now become the third coach to win the elite competition with two different clubs.
Previously, Egypt's Mahmoud El Gohary had won with both Ahly and Zamalek and Oscar Fullon had secured victory with the Ivory Coast's Asec Mimosas and Morocco's Raja Casablanca.
Further celebrating his victory Mosimane had quoted the late Nelson Mandela, saying that:
"It always seems impossible until it is done."
South African citizens could not be more thrilled after learning of this victory with Pitso trending at the top of the charts as peeps celebrated the win.
