Lionel Messi has overtaken Cristiano Ronaldo and other football stars on the planet to top the list of the highest-paid footballers in 2020.

The Barcelona star does not only come top of the pile, his earning worth a staggering €8.3m gross per month almost doubled that of his Portuguese arch-rival.

This may be so because the Argentine hitman is the best player on the planet right now having won the coveted Ballon d'Or honour for the sixth-time record.

According to French publication L’Equipe, the Juventus star is next to the Barcelona captain with an earning of €4.5m gross per month.

Brazilian flamboyant footie, Neymar Jr, came third on the list with €3m gross per month, while former Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann earned a whopping €3m gross per month.

The Frenchman's earning took him the same page with his teammate Luis Suarez who also earns €3m gross per month.

Want-away Real Madrid Welsh winger, Gareth Bale, is the 6th on the list with an earning worth of €2.5m gross per month.

Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard is seventh on the list having earned 2.5m gross per month, a worth tieing him to the same page with Bale.

World Cup-winning French sensational prodigy Kylian Mbappe is the eighth highest-earning player on the planet with a staggering worth of €1.9m gross per month.
