FootballBarcelona star suffers injury while on international duty, set to return to Spain
Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen will depart from the German national team camp due to a back injury, as confirmed by manager Julian Nagelsmann.
The 31-year-old has been a consistent presence for Die Mannschaft in recent years, amassing 38 senior appearances.
Unfortunately, he will be unavailable for their upcoming friendly matches against Turkey on November 18th and Austria on November 21st.
Nagelsmann addressed the situation in a recent press conference, as reported by SportsMole:
"Marc-Andre ter Stegen will miss both games due to acute back pain. He will probably be travelling back to Barcelona tomorrow morning. The thing is, he won't be able to play or train."
The severity and extent of Ter Stegen's back injury have yet to be confirmed. Nevertheless, he has been a consistent presence in Xavi Hernandez's starting XI this season, featuring in 17 matches across various competitions and securing eight clean sheets.
The previous season could be considered one of Ter Stegen's finest since joining Barcelona from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014.
He participated in every La Liga game, accumulating 26 clean sheets and conceding just 18 goals, contributing significantly to his team's triumph in securing their first league title under Xavi.
It remains uncertain who Nagelsmann will summon as a replacement for the Barcelona star. The squad announced earlier this month included goalkeepers Oliver Baumann, Janis Blaswich, and Kevin Trapp.
