The Super Eagles are ready to take on Lesotho in their last AFCON 2022 qualifier at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

The Nigerian side led by Gernot Rohr have already finished Group L as winners after going unbeaten in their last five matches, winning three and drawing two.

The Crocodiles are bottom of the log after failing to record a single win in the group with three draws and two losses.

The southern African nation who have never qualified for an AFCON tournament have everything to play for when they face the three-time champions in their ancestral home ground in Lagos.


One Lesotho keeper comes in for another. Meanwhile, a Nigerian corner kick was headed off the line. It should have been 4-0.


Musa was brought down by Lehlohonolo Fothoane as the midfielder was given a yellow card. Lesotho have a free kick in a dangerous position as they look to score a consolation goal but the opportunity was wasted.

It's all over as the referee officially ends the game, Nigeria will go into the AFCON 2022 tournament in Cameroon unbeaten.


Ahmed Musa comes in for Kelechi Iheanacho as Ekong hands him the captain's arms-band. Exciting Enyimba winger Anayo Iwuala also replaces Samuel Chukwueze.


Onuachu volley's the ball into the back of the net, whatever he touches turns to gold. Nigeria 3-0 Lesotho. He has only been on the pitch for eight minutes and he has shown he is on fire.

Ten minutes left to play as Lesotho push forward in search of a goal after winning two corner-kicks. Uzoho comfortably handles the second corner.

Onuachu wins a corner as Chukwueze leans back to deliver the cross into the crowded 18-yard area. It's headed away for another corner. The Villarreal star takes it again but another headed away again.


Paul Onuachu comes in for Victor Osimhen while Henry Onyekuru replaces Alex Iwobi. The hero in Benin will like to impress Lagos fans.

Etebo with the cross but it well defended by the Lesotho defence. The Nigerian team are playing the Crocodiles inside their half, not giving them space to attack.

It was the turn of Tyronne Ebuhehi to force a fine save from Ramalefane and the follow-up from Osimhen was well defended. The Super Eagles are getting closer and closer to the third goal.

Fans at the Teslim Balogun Stadium want more goals as it remains 2-0 in favor of the Super Eagles. If any team should score, it should be Nigeria with the way things are going.

Osimhen latches on to a bouncing ball in the box as he shoots but the ball runs across the face of goal. By his standards, he should have done better.

Lesotho goalkeeper Monaheng Ramalefane goes down to the ground as the medical team attends to him and he seems to be okay to continue the match.

Things are going according to plan for the Super Eagles and they are not giving up on getting more goals in the remaining minutes of the game.


Jamilu Collins comes in for FC Porto's Zaidu Sanusi who seems to be struggling as he hobbles off the pitch.

Chukwueze makes his way past two defenders as he wrapped his legs around the ball but his effort goes way off target. It would have been a great goal.

Etebo makes it 2-0. Osimehn unselfishly gives the pass to Etebo who was arriving in the box as he side-foots the ball into the back of the net.

Osimhen wins the first corner kick of the second period. Set piece taken but the referee spots a foul in the box by a Nigerian player.

The referee resumes play as the Nigerian side are playing from right to left. The Super Eagles are leading the game by 1-0.

45’ — Half time

The referee blows the half-time whistle as the Super Eagles take a 1-0 lead into the break as there is still much to play for in the second 45 minutes.

40’ — Lesotho playing on the defensive

The visitors have sat back in defence despite going a goal down. They are preventing the Super Eagles from scoring more as they defend in numbers.

35’ — Classic Super Eagles display

The Super Eagles are playing with so much confidence as they string passes together and have created chances on goal but could only score one so far.

30’ — Nigeria 1-0 Lesotho

30 minutes played and the Super Eagles are still leading by 1-0 courtesy of a well-worked goal by Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Ekong is booked for a dangerous challenge on a Lesotho player. Free-kick in a dangerous position as Uzoho saves and the rebound is put in the back of the net by their captain but he is flagged in an offside position. Massive relief for the Nigerian side.

Osimhen scores. A delightful over-head pass from Iheanacho finds Osimhen who made no mistake with the finish. 1-0 to the three-time African champions.

18’ — CHANCE!

Chukwueze teases a Lesotho defender with a couple of step-overs but could not find Osimhen inside the box. The Super Eagles are dominating the Crocodiles at the moment.

12’ — GOOOAAAL!!! But the referees' assistant flags an offside

Iheanacho delivers a through ball to Osimhen as he puts the ball into the back of the net. However, the referees' assistant raises his flag for an offside.

A Lesotho striker teases Ebuehi on the left flank but his low cross was gathered by Uzoho. Nice try from the Crocodiles.
