Nigerian legendary midfielder Austin Jay Jay Okocha has recognised some active players who have a similar style of play to him during his heydays on the pitch.
The former Bolton Wanderers player had a great football career, and he is known for his entertaining style of football.
The Super Eagles legend, during his days, played for top European sides like Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, and Paris Saint-Germain, before moving to England to play for Bolton.
During an interview with Livescores as per the Punch, Okocha claimed that there are not many footballers in today's game that play a similar style to him and explained why it is so.
"Well, I think things have changed. It’s difficult really for players now to express themselves. I had the luxury to have my identity and to try and show what I can do with the ball. But now they are all limited," he said.
The former Frankfurt midfielder singled out a few players who still have some similar traits to his style of play.
"You can say that maybe [Kylian] Mbappe looks exciting, as well as [Kevin] De Bruyne, [Rafael] Leao from AC Milan as well. Apart from that, it’s hard for me to pick out one that really has that freedom to express himself," he added.
Mbappe and De Bruyne are rated among the top players in football presently, with Leao also among the youngsters making waves.
