Inter Miami have seven games remaining in the 2023 MLS regular season.
Messi and the rest of the Herons will have their work cut out for them to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs, as they are currently in 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
They have scored 28 points in 27 league matches thus far this season.
Only the top nine sides in the Eastern Conference will get to advance to the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Inter Miami currently trail the ninth-ranked D.C. United by seven points. The Herons have two games in hand, however.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to return to Inter Miami’s lineup on September 20 when they host Toronto FC.
Messi also has an opportunity to win his second trophy with Inter Miami later this month. The Herons will face the Houston Dynamo on September 27 in the U.S. Open Cup Final.

Messi to the Paris Olympics?
Sports Brief recently reported on Javier Mascherano wanting Messi and Angel Di Maria to bolster Argentina’s squad for the Paris Olympics next year.
The two veterans have lots of international experience between them, having led La Albiceleste to the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 World Cup.
They were also part of the Argentina side that won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with Mascherano keen to utilise them once again.
