Football2023 WWC: Marcus Rashford Inadvertently Predicts England Star Will Score vs Australia
- England have beaten Australia 3-1 for a place in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
- The Lionesses reach the final of another major tournament after winning Euro 2022
- Manchester United star Marcus Rashford appeared correctly predicted Ella Toone was going to score
Marcus Rashford is probably a time traveller or a prophet after his Instagram story ahead of the game appeared to rightly predict a goal scorer in the FIFA Women's World Cup semi-final.
England and co-hosts Australia battled it out in the second semi-final for a chance to meet Spain in the final on Sunday after the Spaniards beat Sweden 2-1 yesterday.
The European champions have been one of the dominant sides in the tournament, despite missing one of their best players, Lauren James, for two games after her red card against Nigeria for stomping Michelle Alozie in the round of 16.
Fox Sports reported that James would return if the Lionesses reached the final, which they have done after a 3-1 victory over the Aussies.
Rashford 'predicts' goalscorer
As spotted by ESPN UK, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford shared a photo of himself wearing Ella Toone's number 10 jersey with the caption 'Let's go'.
The post has now gone viral after the United women's star opened the scoring with a wicked strike from inside the box, though Rashford was continuing the tradition of Red Devils stars supporting the female team.
Chelsea women's striker Sam Kerr drew the Aussies level with a wicked strike before Manchester City star Lauren Hemp put England ahead minutes later.
England and Spain will clash in the final on Sunday, while Australia will face Sweden in the third-place match on Saturday.
Sam Kerr scores worldie
Sports Brief reported that Australia captain Sam Kerr scored a wonderful goal to draw her team level, though it was not enough for the co-host to progress to the final on home soil.
