Former Togolese national team captain, Emmanuel Adebayor has penned an emotional birthday note to Nigerian legend, Jay Jay Okocha, who turned 50 on August 14, 2023.
Born in 1973, Okocha is celebrating his golden jubilee birthday with some of the finest footballers to ever emerge from the African continent.
On Sunday, an exhibition game was organised for the mercurial midfielder inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
The star-studded event was graced by some African legends, including Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan, and Khalilou Fadiga.
Other superstars spotted were Nigeria’s Peter Rufai, Ifeanyi Udeze, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Julius Aghahowa, Joseph Yobo, and a host of others, Cyber Reporters reports.
They all showed glimpses of what they gave during their time on the pitch, and the handful of fans at the arena also loved it.
After the game, Adebayor took to his Instagram page to pen a birthday message to the former Super Eagles captain.
The former Arsenal forward wrote:
“Cheers to a football icon, Jay Jay Okocha, on his birthday! Your remarkable journey and incredible skills have made you a true legend in the football world. Wishing you a day filled with joy and unforgettable moments. Happy Birthday, my friend ! @official_jj10.”
The 2007 winner of the CAF African Player of The Year Award also branded the former PSG star as the most valuable player to have come out of the continent.
