Ghanaian rapper, Manifest has congratulated legendary Black Stars forward Asamoah Gyan following his retirement from football.

The former Ghana captain emotionally broke the news of his retirement at the Annual General Meeting of Afrixem Bank on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

It ends an illustrious career which spanned almost twenty years with the 37-year-old holding the record of being the country's all-time top scorer.

Tributes have been pouring in from former teammates and fans of the national team, including the multiple-award winning rapper.

"Baby jet. Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup. Ghana’s all time leading goal scorer. Beyond goals… pre game jama, off pitch jams, unbroken despite continuous adversity. No. 3 did his ting uno. All the best in your next chapter," wrote Manifest on Twitter with a video of one of the striker's goals.

Gyan also holds the record for being Africa's top scorer at the FIFA World Cup, with six goals in three tournaments.

"I want to take this great opportunity, a stage that is difficult in every footballer's career, a moment all footballers do not wish, but when nature dawns, that thin voice will keep echoing into the ears... it is time... that voice has been clear in my ears, and I have succumbed to it, it is time. It is time to hand the jersey and boots in glory as I officially retire from active football," said Gyan, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

Manifest is regarded as one of the most prolific rappers in Africa.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has announced his retirement from football after a career which spanned almost two decades.

The 37-year-old, who remains Ghana's all-time leading scorer, finally decided to hang his boots after almost three years without playing actively.

Gyan confirmed his retirement at the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meeting held in Accra on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
