Nigeria Amputee Football Team were involved in a terrible road accident on their way to Abuja on Monday, October 15.
The team recently qualified for this year's Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico and they were said to be travelling to the country's capital to process their visas.
Having missed the last three editions owing to paucity of funds, the Special Eagles had to raise funds through go-fund-me to ensure they participate in the competition.

Captain of the team Goodluck Obieze confirmed the incident - saying the accident occurred along Lokoja expressway.
"We were on the way to Abuja for visa application when the ghastly motor accident along the Lokoja – Abuja expressway occurred,” Obieze told Premiun Times.
"Although no life was lost, many of the players sustained minor injuries.” he added.
He further stated that no life was lost and were rescued from the bush by some military personnel after the accident.
The Special Eagles were invited by the Mexican Embassy for visa interview schedule for Tuesday as they prepare for the tourney the 2018 Amputee Football World Cup whick kicks off begins next week.

Mexican cities of San Juan and Guadalajara will host the competition.
The Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick was said to have donated $5000 to the team as raising funds for the championship seemed difficult.
Legit.ng previously reported that Super Eagles stars contributed over N6 million for the Nigerian Amputee national football team in their quest to play at the 2018 World Cup in Mexico.
The Nigeria Amputee football team have been swimming in financial crisis ahead of this year's World Cup and they have been doing their best not to miss the championship which will start this month.
Already, they have missed the last three editions of the World Cup due to their inability to raise funds for travelling and they are now on the verge of missing another tournament.
