Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has explained that Gift Orban and Victor Boniface are still part of his plans even though he did not invite them for Nigeria's coming clash against Sierra Leone in AFCON qualifiers.
At the recently concluded season in Belgium, Orban and Boniface were impressive for other clubs and many football fans were expecting to see their names on the list for the battle against Sierra Leone.
Despite joining Gent in January 2023, Gift Orban scored 15 goals and created two assists.
Victor Boniface on the other hand netted seven goals for Union SG and also created seven assists which was incredible.

FootballAccording to the reports on Complete Sports and Daily Post, Jose Peseiro explained that he had to pick players he knows very well for the coming game against Sierra Leone.
“I believe in Orban and Boniface, I spent my own money to visit them and if I should call them it means I will have to take some of the ones currently in camp out.
“I called 19 foreign players and if I had the chance to call more of course Orban and Boniface will be called but I understand the situation at the NFF and I need to help so I called 19. And for a decisive match it’s better I call the players I know better.
“So for Orban, Boniface, and others they still have time I understand that despite playing well they didn’t get an invitation but remember the likes of Osimhen, and Awoniyi all did well last season.''

It has been a year since the Portuguese was appointed as the coach of the Super Eagles. He replaced Austin Eguavoen, who failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Peseiro was hired under the Amaju Pinnick-led Nigerian Football Federation board and he was reported to have signed a one-year deal.
