This form led to former Manchester United defender Phil Neville being sacked as head coach by David Beckham, Manchester Evening News reported.

A week after Beckham fired his former Manchester United teammate, Inter Miami completed the landmark signing of Messi.

The decision to choose the MLS side shocked Messi's close friends, including Aguero.

The two have a close bond and the retired striker told ESPN what Messi's reaction was when he sent him the Eastern Conference standings.

"I spoke to Messi yesterday, I sent him a message with a screenshot of the Eastern Conference standings and I said ‘your team is behind! You have to move up to 8th/9th'," he said.
"Messi cracked up. He said ‘we have to make the play-offs'."

Messi’s debut for Inter Miami

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on when Messi will feature for Inter Miami, who are sitting at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference after 16 matches.

This poor run of form is said to be the reason why franchise owner, David Beckham decided to sack Phil Neville and bring the Argentine veteran on board.

Messi will reportedly be able to officially register as a player for Inter Miami on July 5, as that is when the league's next transfer window officially opens.
