  • Erling Haaland will hope to cap his season by helping Manchester City win the Champions League
  • He moved to England last summer and is setting the league on fire and has rewritten many records
  • The Norwegian has revealed his inspiration for glory ahead of Saturday’s final against Inter Milan

Erling Haaland will hope to round up a successful first season in English football with the UEFA Champions League trophy in Saturday’s final in Istanbul.

Manchester City and Inter Milan will battle for glory in this year’s final, and it is the English club that are favourites to win it, but the Italians are no pushover.

It presents City with an opportunity to win it for the first time in their history, while it will be the first time since 2010 for the Italians if they win it.

A win will also mean Pep Guardiola’s men complete a historic treble, having already won the Premier League title and the FA Cup.

Haaland reveals UCL inspiration

Haaland has been central to City's success this season. He has scored 52 goals in all competitions, including 12 in the Champions League, as reported by BBC Sports.

He is hungry for more silverware in his first season in England and has revealed a weird inspiration for the UCL glory.

“I’ve been dreaming and thinking of winning the Champions League my whole life — it’s been my dream as long as I can remember, he told BBC Radio via Sun Sport.
“In 2008, it was Chelsea-United. When I saw the celebrations, I wanted to do that as well, and now we’re getting closer.”

The 22-year-old also admitted that the team are expert at winning the league title, as they have won four in five seasons before his arrival, which gives his transfer a different purpose.

“The only thing they miss now is the Champions League, so you can read between the lines — I’ve been coming here for a reason,” he added.

City fan gets treble tattoo

Sports Brief reported that a Man City fan got a treble tattoo as he landed in Istanbul for the final in an extreme show of faith in his team.

He inked a picture of the club’s logo surrounded by the EPL, FA Cup, and UCL trophies, and the words 'Treble winners 2023’ at the top.
