  • West Ham United beat Fiorentina to win the second UEFA Europa Conference League
  • Jarod Bowen’s 90th-minute winner sealed the victory for the Hammers in the tourney
  • West Ham's victory could affect the UCL final between Manchester City and Inter Milan

West Ham United may have unknowingly decided the winner of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

The Hammers beat Italian side, Fiorentina 2-1 at Eden Park in Prague, Czech Republic, to win their first European Cup since the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1965.

It is the second loss in European finals for Italian clubs this season, after AS Roma were beaten 4-1 on penalties by Sevilla in the Europa League final last week in Budapest.

Inter Milan are the third Serie A team in a European final, and will be in action against the English champions in the final of the Champions League at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday.

Coincidence favours Inter to win

City are the odds-on favourites to win their first-ever Champions League against Nerazzurri, but it might not be as straightforward as it appears.

After West Ham’s victory last night, Centre Goals posted a coincidence that backs Milan's black-and-blue side to win: the last time the Irons won a European trophy, Inter won the European Cup.

It adds to the fact that Inter have not lost a knockout game in European competition under Simone Inzaghi. At the same time, the Italian legend has won seven straight Cup finals, according to IFTV.

City fan gets treble tattoo

Sports Brief reported that a City fan got a treble tattoo as he landed in Istanbul before the final on Saturday. A win will help the Citizens complete a historic treble.

Pep Guardiola’s men have already won the Premier League title, beating Arsenal to it, and the FA Cup, beating rivals Manchester United in the final on Saturday.

Adriano bets on Inter Milan

Sports Brief also reported that former Brazilian striker, Adriano bet on Inter Milan to beat the English club and lift their first Champions League trophy since 2010.

The 41-year-old splashed €2,000 on his former team and will heap a huge €15,000 if his prediction is correct, and Man City manage to claim the elusive cup treble.
